Mug Making Course - 4 Weeks

Mug Making Course - 4 Weeks

£170.00

Join this 4 week workshop to learn all the stages of making a mug!

Learn the basic steps for how to throw different shaped forms on the wheel. We’ll be looking at different mug shapes and working on getting a little more height to your pots! Then we’ll also be introduced to trimming to shape your pots. And I’ll be teaching you how to make and attach handles.

There will be a choice of 4 glazes to pick from and I will glaze your work for you for this short course to give us more time on the wheel.

This is a fun course aimed at relative beginners who want to get their teeth into some more throwing processes and make some lovely pots!

Each person can have 4 pieces glazed, with extra pieces costing £5 per piece.

Who is this for? This class is for adults who have completed a beginners throwing workshop already, either with me or someone else. 4 spaces per workshop to allow for a more personalised, attentive teaching within a small group setting and maximum time on the wheel.

What to bring? All tools and materials will be provided along with an apron. Wearing old clothes is advisable. Tea and biscuits are included! Each person will have 4 mugs fired and glazed. Extra pieces at £5 per piece.

Collection: Ceramic work will be ready 6 weeks after the final workshop to allow time for pieces to be dried, fired, and glazed. Pots can be collected from my studio in Lindfield or a central Brighton location. Alternatively they can be posted to you for an extra £10. UK first class Royal Mail.

Location: Great Walstead Studios at Great Walstead School. East Mascalls Lane, Lindfield, East Sussex, RH16 2QL. Please aim to arrive 5 before the class. Location details and a map will be emailed to you a week before the class.

Accessibility:

Due to the studio being an old building it is unfortunately not officially set up for wheelchair access. However, It is possible to attach a ramp onto the back door but please be aware that the door frame is only 68cm wide (rather than the 81cm wheelchair access requirement). And we do have one wheel that can be adjusted for a wheelchair user. Please get in touch if you have any queries about access needs to the space before you book.

Pottery Breakages Disclaimer:

Your ceramic pieces will be handled in a careful and experienced way. However, the nature of ceramics involves putting natural materials through very high temperatures. There are many variable factors involved in the process, which means that there is always a risk of technical failures and breakages which cannot be controlled.
